homes4u renew partnership with the University of Manchester Cycling Club for 2017-2018

It gives us great pleasure to announce that for the third consecutive year we are the official main sponsor of the University of Manchester Cycling Club. The partnership is a fantastic fit as both we and the cycling club support the same local charity, Maggie’s Cancer Centre based at the Christie in Withington.

We cannot wait to get started in collaborating again with the club this year and contributing even more money to such a worthy cause such as Maggie’s. It costs £2,400 to run a Maggie’s Centre for a day. Over the last two years with the club we are very proud to be able to say that they have raised enough money to fund an entire day of running the centre and are very close to two!

Digital and Social Media Coordinator at homes4u, Andrew Mellor commented,” I am very happy to be able to continue our partnership with the cycling club and carry on jointly fundraising together in aid of Maggie’s. Since day one the club have been organised, hard working and an absolute pleasure to work with.”

Some of our previous five fundraisers have included 24 hour stationary cycles outside the University of Manchester Students’ Union on Oxford Road (and through some pretty testing weather we might add!) The club has also undertaken two long distance rides between Maggie’s centres across the North of England including a cycle from Tynemouth, Newcastle to Birkenhead in one day!

This year there is another three fundraising events on the cards. There will be a 24 hour cycle outside the Students’ Union in early November. Next on the agenda, an ‘Everest Challenge’ in early March and to finish the year, the 10km Great Manchester Run with the club assembling a bike at the finish line!

The University of Manchester Cycling Club Captain Alexandra Kendall-Smith commented,” It is great to see how our partnership with homes4u has flourished over the past two years, by working together to raise a fantastic amount of money for Maggie’s. Moving forward into our third year working with homes4u, we hope to be able build on everything we have already achieved, and come up with some more ambitious ideas!”
