The Best Cycle Routes in Greater Manchester

From urban inner city routes to scenic countryside, there is something for all tastes when it comes to cycle routes in Greater Manchester and Cheshire. We asked our partners at the University of Manchester Cycling Club to head out and send us some footage of their favourite places to ride.

First up the club headed around South Manchester and Cheshire whilst making their way to Tatton Park. Blink and you will miss it but how many places can you spot on  Withington or Fallowfield high street? If you are around Fallowfield, the Fallowfield Loop is a very popular cycle route. At 8 miles long the Fallowfield Loop is thought to be the longest urban cycleway in Britain.

If urban is not your thing and you prefer a more scenic route, Tatton Park is about an hours cycle from Withington Village. If you don’t have a bike, you can visit the cycle hire store in the Stable Yard where they hire adult and child bikes along with trailers and child seats. There are 1000 acres to explore, and there are café’s and a farm shop to grab a drink and a treat!

Now we are in to the season of sunshine, blue skies and long evenings, it’s time to get that bike back out of the garage, blow away the cobwebs and get out on the road for a ride. If these videos have given you some inspirations check out these Greater Manchester cycle routes
