Spinningfields is a business, retail and residential development between South Deansgate and the River Irwell. Its aim was to enhance Manchester’s position in the global market and the development won the Regeneration prize at the 2005 Property Awards! The Financial Times has said: “London has Canary Wharf and Paris has La Defence, Manchester has its own modern financial centre in the form of Spinningfields”.

Things to do

In Spinningfields you will find high end store such as Armani, Mulberry and Flannels. There are a number of restaurants including Aiden Byrne's Manchester House which has been featured on TV’s Restaurant wars. They describe their menu as ‘Fine cooking served in an informal, fun and funky way’

Spinningfields is bustling in the evening with bars such as the Oast House, a rustic style pub serving food, craft ale and beer. Neighbourhood is the City’s latest celeb haunt and Australasia serves and outstanding range of cocktails.

During the summer there is an open air cinema showing classic and family films. At Easter there is an annual duck race and when the Christmas Market is on Spinningfields is home to an outdoor ice rink.

The Peoples History Museum can be found on Left Bank and has no charge for admission. There are two main galleries and regular changing exhibitions.

The late Victoria, Neo –Gothic John Ryland’s Library fronts onto Deansgate and is one of Manchester’s most iconic buildings. The library was first opened to the public in 1900 and holds personal papers and letters of amongst others, Elizabeth Gaskell and John Dalton. There are regular events and tours at the Library, most of which are free.

Like its neighbour Deansgate the residential property available in Spinningfields is limited to apartments in the Leftbank development. Its residents tend to be professional tenants and owner occupiers with prices being in line with Deansgate.

Getting About

The free Metroshuttle Bus has stops around Spinningfields. Salford Crescent and Deansgate Train stations are within walking distance.


There is a lawned area in the centre of Spinningfields where they hold outdoor cinema in the summer months.
